Jim Koslow, Aliso Ranch Manager

My interest in horses started early in life. However, riding opportunities were limited in urban New Jersey. I rode whenever & wherever I could. My strategy was to not repeat whatever previously got me tossed. In 1978, I relocated to Ventura & was able to once again ride horses. I presently own two Quarter Horse geldings Smoke & Playgun. Smoke is a solid all around easy going horse & Playgun is from a cutting horse bloodline.

My educational background consists of a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. This led to a 30 year career as C.E.O. of the Ventura Housing Authority.

It is my pleasure to be at Aliso Ranch Stables.

Larry White, Aliso Ranch Manager

Larry White has been the manager of Aliso Ranch Stables for approximately six of the last nine years of operation ( three year hiatus due to wife's illness). Larry found Aliso Ranch Stables in 1994 when he was looking for a place to find relief from the pressures and stress of being a Ventura Police Sergeant. Once he discovered Aliso Ranch, he purchased a ranch horse and became a boarder. In 1999, the year before Larry retired from the Ventura Police Department, he accepted the owner's offer to become the stable's manager. Since then, ARS has grown from 25 boarded horses to approximately 90.

Larry owns two horses and enjoys helping local ranchers during roundups and branding. He has competed in some ranch roping competitions and considers his participation more of a learning experience rather than a serious competitor. Larry is working a young horse in preparation for his young grandchildren. He is also being humbled by taking lessons from a local cutting horse trainer.

Larry is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a bachelor of science degree in aeronautical engineering and a graduate of Cal Lutheran University with a master of science degree in administration of justice.
